About me

As a professional photographer I´m a member of Professional Photographer´s of America (PPA), and the Centralverband deutscher Berufsphotographen (CVDBPh), as well as the Canon Professional Network (CPN) and registered as a Professional Photographer with the Handwerkskammer (crafts council). I shoot primarily with Canon 5D MKII as my main body with the Canon 7D as my backup.

I was born in post war East Germany or the German Democratic Republic, which my parents left as soon as they could, something that was called desertion of the Republic at the time. I grew up in the other half of Germany. Moving frequently as my father worked his way up in the western system until my parents settled in the Bird Mountain Region of Hesse.

My father is a professional master joiner (and has a Masters in Engineering) with a deep sense of perfection which he either managed to instill in me or which I inherited naturally. At the age of 16 he gave me my two first SLR bodies, two beautiful Praktica cameras. With them and a bicyle I spent beautiful sunny afternoons capturing butterflies on Agfa ISO 50 film in the Inn river meadows.

I immigrated to the US at age 22 with my Prakticas in my suitcase, my dog and not much else.

I´ve lived (and worked) in a wide variety of locations from Virginia, South Carolina, Stuttgart, Vilseck, and Wiesbaden, GE, Columbus, OH, Washinton, DC, Hawaii, Guam, Singapore, Mechanicsburg, PA, London, UK and back to Wiesbaden, Stuttgart and the Nature Preserve of the Bird Mountain area.

I love the world we live in and breath deeply with thanks every day when faced with the beauty surrounding us and the greatness thereof. I would love to share that beauty with you and hope you feel as connected to the earth as I do when you look at my pictures.
